Key takeaways
- Under $100 a month, the cheapest paid daily ChatGPT tracking starts at $29 (Otterly Lite), with Geoptie at $49, AIclicks at $59, Peec AI at $95, Rankability at $97 and Rankscale Pro at $99.
- The headline price rarely tells the whole story. Prompt caps (15 on Otterly Lite and Geoptie Starter, 25 on HubSpot AEO, 50 on Peec) matter more than the monthly fee.
- ChatGPT answers vary run to run and cite many domains per response, so a 15-prompt panel is a starter kit, not a real measurement program.
- Prices below come from vendor and competitor blog posts published in October 2026. Check each pricing page before you buy, since Peec in particular is quoted differently across sources.
What you are actually paying for
A ChatGPT rank tracker is not a Google rank tracker. There is no ranked list to read a position from. ChatGPT writes prose, and the prose changes between runs. So a useful tool runs your prompts repeatedly and reports how often your brand shows up, where in the answer, next to which competitors, and which URLs get cited.
That shapes how you should shop. Three numbers matter on a budget plan:
- How many prompts you can track
- How often they run (daily, weekly, or a cadence you set)
- Which engines are included besides ChatGPT
The monthly price is the fourth number, and honestly the least interesting one.
Why prompt count matters more than it looks
Promptwatch Data on unique domains per ChatGPT response (Sep 28 to Oct 4, 2026) found that 47.6% of responses with a citation cite 10 or more different domains, and 66.1% cite at least 8. For organic prompts that don't name a brand, 52.5% cite 10 or more. Your brand is competing for a spot in a crowded source list, so a single prompt tells you very little. A plan capped at 15 prompts will give you a directional signal at best.
Citation behavior also shifts without warning. According to Promptwatch's ChatGPT citation drop report, the average number of sources per search-enabled response fell from about 6.4 to roughly 4.7 to 4.9 after the GPT-5.3 rollout on March 4, 2026, within a day, with no recovery a month later. If you track continuously you can tell "we lost visibility" apart from "ChatGPT is citing fewer sources everywhere." A one-off audit can't.
Query fanouts are changing too. The ChatGPT query fanouts data shows average query length falling from about 117 characters in December 2025 to about 53 characters from April 2026. ChatGPT now searches in short keyword-style queries, so phrase your tracked prompts accordingly and refresh them now and then.

The tools, one at a time
Otterly.AI, $29 a month
Otterly Lite is the cheapest paid entry that several independent roundups agree on. You get 15 prompts running daily across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, with AI Mode and Gemini as paid add-ons. The catch is that 15 prompts divided across four engines is thin. I'd treat it as a way to find out whether tracking is useful to you before committing more money.

Geoptie, $49 a month
Geoptie Starter covers seven engines, including Claude, which is unusual at this price. You get 15 prompts running daily, which works out to about $16 per five-prompt topic by Mission Growth's math, so it is not the best value per prompt. It is a good fit if you want to see how several models treat you, not just ChatGPT. There is also a free one-off ChatGPT tracker, which is handy for a snapshot.
AIclicks, $59 a month
AIclicks Starter gives you 30 daily prompts across three engines, and its pitch is that it also tracks ChatGPT ads data next to organic results. If sponsored placements in AI answers matter in your category, that is worth a look. Higher tiers widen the engine set to 10 or more.
Peec AI, $95 a month
Peec Starter is 50 prompts a day, with ChatGPT as one of three models you choose from a pool. Perplexity is a paid add-on and Claude is Enterprise-only on the self-serve set. Peec reads data from the interface, which mirrors what real users see, and it adds sentiment and a citation share metric. One source quotes it at EUR 89 (about $103), so confirm the current price. For a ChatGPT-only scenario with 50 weekly prompts, it is one of the cleaner fits because there is no credit math.
Rankability, $97 a month
Rankability Starter gives you 100 prompt slots, daily, weekly or on a custom schedule, with location appended to prompts for local markets. At $4.85 per five-prompt topic it is cheap per unit if you actually use the slots. It comes with a 7-day trial that requires a card.

Rankscale, $20 to $99 a month
Rankscale is credit-based. Essentials at $20 a month ships with zero included credits, so the headline is misleading. Pro at $99 gives up to 4,800 answers if every credit goes to ChatGPT, and ChatGPT costs only 0.25 credits per check. You set the refresh schedule from hourly to monthly, and it lists 17 or more engines. If you like fiddling with cadence, this is your tool. If you want predictable pricing, the credit model needs care.
Honorable mentions under the line
- Visby at $79 a month adds automated task generation, which turns citation gaps into to-dos.
- Leapd's Alex at $39 a month tracks 50 prompts every 48 hours and bundles a site audit and content generation. Starter tracks ChatGPT only; Perplexity, AI Overviews and Gemini arrive on Pro.
- Nightwatch at EUR 79 a month (about $85) combines 500 classic keywords with 50 AI prompts.
- ZipTie charges per check, from about $42.75 a month ($0.01 per prompt per engine per check).

Just over the line
Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit, SE Ranking's SE Visible, Profound's Growth plan and Sight all sit at about $99 a month. They technically qualify, but the details bite. Semrush includes 25 prompts, so 50 weekly prompts takes you to roughly $159 with the add-on pack. Profound's entry tier covers ChatGPT only. Read the limits before assuming $99 is the final bill.

How to choose
| Your situation | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Testing whether this is worth it | Otterly Lite ($29) or Geoptie's free tool | Lowest commitment |
| Want Claude and several engines | Geoptie ($49) | Seven engines on the entry tier |
| Need 50 or more prompts, ChatGPT-focused | Peec AI ($95) or Rankability ($97) | Prompt volume, daily runs |
| Want to control refresh cadence | Rankscale Pro ($99) | Hourly to monthly |
| Local or multi-market tracking | Rankability or Geoptie | Location appended, or one prompt per market |
| Need ads data too | AIclicks ($59) | ChatGPT ads alongside organic |
A quick sanity check before you pay
- Ask how many runs each result is based on. A "ranking" built on one run is noise.
- Count prompts after dividing by engines. 15 prompts across four engines may mean far fewer checks than you expect.
- Check whether data comes from the real ChatGPT interface or the API. They can differ.
- Look for citation data, not just mentions. Cited URLs are the pages you can actually influence.
- Confirm whether the price is monthly or annual. Annual billing is often 15 to 20 percent lower.

When $100 is not enough
Budget trackers answer one question: was my brand mentioned? That is useful, but it stops there. If you want to know why you are or aren't being cited, what AI crawlers read on your site, what traffic ChatGPT sends you, and what to publish to close the gap, you are in a different category.
Promptwatch is the option to look at when you outgrow monitoring. Its Essential plan is $95 a month for 50 prompts across all tracked models, with crawler logs, visitor analytics, site audits and content gap analysis included. Higher plans add the Content Agent, which writes and publishes against your gaps. That puts the entry tier right inside this budget, though check promptwatch.com/pricing for current numbers.

For a wider view of the category, the GEO software directory lists dozens more trackers, and ai-rank-tools.com covers AI rank tracking specifically.
My take
If you have $30 and curiosity, start with Otterly or Geoptie and treat it as a pilot. If you have close to $100 and a real list of 50 or more buying questions, pick Peec AI or Rankability, because the prompt count is where the value is. Rankscale rewards people who like tuning things. And whichever you choose, run it for at least a few weeks before drawing conclusions, since ChatGPT's behavior moves, and single snapshots lie.
Before you commit, open each vendor's pricing page and confirm the prompt cap, engine list and billing term. The numbers above were gathered from October 2026 roundups, and several of them disagree with each other.
